When Silence Cries

When silence cries
We hear no sound
As trees crash groaning
All around,
Falls on deaf ears
When species softly
As natural habitats
Are tossed
And voices once
So bright are lost.

When tongues are mute
With strangled speech
As witnesses
That cannot breach
The bars where
Tyranny is found
And violence in
Words are bound,
In shattered hearts
And broken minds
Will silent tears
Be left behind.
